I launched The Aerogramme Center in March 2020—to your point about change—the original model was an artist collective that would support artists through critiques, discussions, and networking. I had just graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 2019, and felt this immediate loss of community, access to facilities, and loss of structure and wondered how I would maintain my artistic practice. So, I sought to engage with other young artists in the Baltimore area.”

An Instagram Live with NYC Crit Club/The Canopy Program

Current Canopy Program artist and founder of The Aerogramme Center, Zoë Elena Moldenhauer joins Catherine Haggarty, co-founder of NYC Crit Club in an Instagram Live.

In addition to speaking about her experience as an artist in the program, Zoë gives a tour of The Aerogramme Center’s summer group exhibition featuring artists from her Canopy Program cohort entitled ‘Transparent Boundaries.’

The exhibition is on view at Compère Collective from August 5—30, 2023.

The pandemic was an opportunity to create a platform of shared experiences and build community. The Aerogramme Center (like The Society of Dilettanti) is an online platform that seeks to support artists and writers during the pandemic.”
